March for Our Lives (MFOL) is a movement dedicated to gun reform through activism and awareness. This project aims to subvert the expectations of activist messaging by creating a subtle but moving experiential installation. This installation would stand in pedestrian walkways and medians, allowing passers-by to experience the messaging in a unique way: absence.
This solution comes from a desire to discuss the impacts of campus gun violence without resorting to violent or upsetting imagery. However, this more inoffensive solution offers not a compromise, but a new way of considering the issue. This installation was designed to house “lenticular” panels that would bend the light around a given foreground subject while preserving the background image, making passers-by seem to disappear.
